Bill Evans

Bill Evans was an American jazz pianist from Plainfield, New Jersey, who became one of the most influential figures in the genre. His playing centered on lush, impressionistic harmonies and lyrical improvisation, drawing as much from classical composers as from bebop. He recorded prolifically from the late 1950s until his death in 1980, reshaping how the piano trio format worked in jazz.
