Black Sabbath

Black Sabbath formed in Birmingham, England, with Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward. They built heavy metal into a genre with riff-driven songs, loud guitars, and dark lyrical themes through the 1970s, and their tracks like Paranoid, Iron Man, and War Pigs became cornerstones of the genre. Over the decades the band went through many lineup changes, selling over 70 million records by 2013.
