Dion DiMucci, born in 1939 in the Bronx, New York, is an American singer and songwriter who got his start in doo-wop before moving into rock and roll, R&B, folk, and blues. He first came up as the lead voice of Dion and the Belmonts, then went solo and became one of the biggest American rock and roll acts before the British Invasion took hold. He racked up 39 Top 40 hits across his group and solo work in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
