George Benson

George Benson was born on March 22, 1943, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He built his career as a jazz guitarist before expanding into pop and R&B as both a guitarist and vocalist, coming to prominence in the 1960s playing soul jazz with organist Jack McDuff. His 1976 album Breezin' broke him into mainstream success, and he kept a run of hit records going through the early 1980s.
