Grateful Dead

The Grateful Dead formed in Palo Alto, California in 1965 and became one of the defining bands of the San Francisco psychedelic music scene. Their sound pulled from rock, blues, folk, country, jazz, and bluegrass, often woven together through long improvisational passages in concert. They built one of the most devoted fan followings in rock history, touring relentlessly for three decades with guitarist Jerry Garcia at the center of the group.
