Mary Chapin Carpenter

Mary Chapin Carpenter is a singer-songwriter from Princeton, New Jersey who built her career in country and contemporary folk music. She started releasing records in the late 1980s on Columbia and became one of the more distinctive voices in country during the 1990s, winning multiple Grammy Awards. Her songwriting tends toward personal, introspective territory, and over the years she has leaned further into folk and away from mainstream country.
