Miles Davis

Miles Davis was an American trumpeter, bandleader, and composer from Alton, Illinois, who became one of the most influential figures in jazz history. He worked across a wide range of styles over his career, from bebop and cool jazz in the late 1940s and 1950s to modal jazz and jazz fusion in later decades. His playing was distinctive for its cool, understated tone, and he consistently surrounded himself with some of the best musicians of each era.
